The stunning Spangled Cotinga is a South America species that lives in the upper canopies of the Amazon rainforest. This mainly frugivorous bird feeds requires tall native trees to survive in its environment. Fun fact: The Spangled Cotinga does not have a song. Like many species of cotinga, the spangled cotinga does not sing a song to attract a mate even though it is considered a songbird in the genus Passeriformes. Instead, male cotingas use their brilliant colors to display their health and fitness.
